Astigmatism
What is Astigmatism?
Most of us have some form of astigmatism. It is when the eye shape is not 100% round. In many cases an astigmatic eye is described as being more rugby ball shaped instead of football shaped.
When you a have a perfectly round eye, light enters into the eye at the same angle and it is therefore easier for your eye to pick up the rays of light and process them into vision.
If you have a rugby ball shaped eye then this means that light is entering into the eye at differing angles. This in turn would mean that not all of those rays/angles of light are hitting your retina as they should do.
Symptoms
Your eyes are amazing at compensating. If you have a small prescription, your eye will be working to accommodate that prescription without glasses. In more severe cases of astigmatism, over time, you may experience.
- Tired Eyes
- Sore Eyes
- Headaches
- And blurriness
