Styes
What is a Stye?
A stye is a bacterial infection that affects the eyelids. It is characterised by a lump filled with yellow puss that can be on the outside or inside of the lid.
A stye will not cause any complications with your eyesight and will usually clear up by itself within a week or so, although they can be painful while they are healing.
Styes are closely linked to personal hygiene so cleaning the area and using a warm compress will aid in the self healing. Some people are more prone to styes than others. You should visit your GP if you are having regular bouts of this infection.
